Before proceeding, make sure you have successfully installed NowSecure Lab and have logged into the Santoku OS. If you haven’t installed it yet, please see Installing NowSecure Lab.
The next step needed to get up and running, is to activate the software using the provided license key. You can complete the process by following the steps laid out in this article: NowSecure Lab License Activation Once you are successfully logged in. There are a few things to check before launching NowSecure Lab: Ensure that only ONE device (Android/iOS) is connected to the system. Ensure that the USB WiFi adapter is plugged-in/passed-though to the system. Ensure the system is connected to the Internet.
Once you have verified the previous steps, you can then launch NowSecure Lab by double-clicking the icon on the Desktop, or by clicking the Santoku knife in the bottom left-corner (Start Menu), and navigating to Accessories->NowSecure Lab. A splash screen will appear to show that NowSecure Lab is launching.
Initially, NowSecure Lab will ask for the root password, which is the same password you used to login. By default, this password is “vialab1”. The system will run a series of checks to determine if all of the required devices are connected properly, and that all necessary packages are currently installed.
Once the password has been received, the system check will resume. If there are any errors as the tests are being run, please reference System Check Errors for a more detailed explanation on fixing specific issues. When the system check returns green across the board, you are ready to proceed.
If you run into issues during the system check on the first launch of Lab Workstation, check out “viaLab system check fails on initial startup” for more detail on how to fix it.
From here, much of the assessment process can be accessed though our built-in help guide. This will walk you through the different components and features of Lab Workstation, while providing an overview of how these tests can be performed.
