The Background Task Manager allows you to view, manage and organize tasks run in the background by NowSecure Workstation.
The Background Task Manager can be launched at any time from the main Workstation toolbar by pressing the button shown below:
This will open the Background Task Manager and you will be presented with its main interface:
Please note that the Background Task Manager only lists tasks run in the background by NowSecure Workstation. If no tasks are currently running, the “Tasks” section will be empty. You can review tasks already run in the “History” tab.
Also, please note that updated progress will be displayed as available and may take time. A progress bar not moving (even at 0%) does NOT in itself indicate a frozen task.
The “Tasks” tab will display the currently running task as well as all tasks queued for execution once the running task finishes. You can quickly review the status of each task by looking at the “Status” column. You can also review the time elapsed since the task was started, its progress while being run, and when a potential timeout will occur if the task takes an unreasonable amount of time to complete.
The Background Task Manager allows you to easily cancel any running or queued tasks:
You can also cancel all tasks in the queue, including any running ones, by clicking on the “Kill All” button.:
You can easily review a history of all tasks that have been run in the background by clicking on the “History” tab. This history will not be available if NowSecure Workstation restarts:
Any failed background tasks will also be shown in the history with a “failed” status.
Please review the logs using the Log Viewer from the Options menu to get more information on the task failure and send the logs to NowSecure using the “Send Logs” button to share potential issues with NowSecure.
